Frequently Asked Questions

What is Artisan Jewelry?

Artisan Jewelry is jewelry made by an artist that creates objects that are beautiful, practical, and enduring. Artisan jewelry is handmade with care and great attention to detail. The most important part about artisan jewelry is how it makes you feel when you are wearing it or giving it as a gift. It is something special that was made just for you!

I create each unique piece with love, intention, and a vision of jewelry that will bring joy to the owner.

What kind of metals are used in making my jewelry?

I use sterling silver and gold-filled components and wires. These metals are the most stable and beautiful metals to use for the longevity and sturdiness of my jewelry. I do use high carat gold on custom orders when requested.

Can you size jewelry listed on your site?

The bracelets usually can not be sized because they are one-of-a-kind. However, I am happy to add a couple of links to a slightly tight fit or create a similar design in your size. Many times I can add an extender to a necklace. Any chain necklaces may be purchased in a length of your choosing, however, this may affect the cost of the piece. If you have any questions regarding size and fit please contact me.

How do I care for my jewelry?

Taking care of your jewelry investment is a wide-ranging topic. A simple jewelry polishing cloth is the first line of defense in keeping your silver and gold shiny.

Here are some dos and don’ts around jewelry care:

- Don’t dip silver jewelry in polishing liquids. Polish with a cloth so the patina of darker areas remains part of the design.

- Do store your necklaces and bracelets in soft bags or compartments in your jewelry case so they don’t tangle.

- Don’t hang beaded pieces from hooks, this will stretch the stringing materials over time. Chains are fine to store hanging on a hook or in a bag separate from other chains.

- Earrings are fine to hang or store lying down.

- Don’t expose pearls, opals, coral, or other porous stones to perfumes or cleaning chemicals.

- Please be careful with your bracelets or long necklaces when loading or unloading the dishwasher, washing machine, or freezer. They can accidentally catch and pull apart! I’ve done it myself and ruined a few pieces.

- Reach out to me if you have any questions, I’m happy to help!

Can I wear my jewelry in the shower or pool?

Please don’t! This may change the gemstones or weaken the stringing materials. Treat your pieces with care so you can enjoy wearing them for years to come. Also, you should remove your jewelry while participating in sports.
